Benefits of Steel Roofs

Types

Single skin
Suitable for unheated buildings, simple sheds and industrial buildings heated by the process carried on within them.
Fully filled twin skin
Pre-formed rigid insulation between two skins. Site-assembled.

Insulated
Suitable for many types of building. Site-assembled.
Composite Sandwich panels
These insulated panels can be created on site, but are more generally factory-assembled.
Although standing seam systems are being increasingly used in Europe, particularly in all-metal and modular buildings and on low-pitched roofs, the most widely specified systems use composite or sandwich panels.
Concealed fix
Similar to the insulated system, but because the outer sheets are not perforated by fixings, the risk of leaks through fixings is eliminated. The system is fixed at side laps and inter- mediate ribs.

Standing Seam
The standing seam system is an improved version of the concealed fix system.

  • Outer panels are not perforated by fixings. Panels are fixed at side laps, so leakage risk is eliminated.
  • Concealed clips attaching panels to purlins allow easy movement for thermal expansion and contraction.
  • Assembled on site: easy to install: completely weathertight.
  • Suitable for pitches as low as 1°.
  • Enables generous use of insulation for energy efficiency.
  • Long life with minimum maintenance.
  • Light deadload reduces support structure weight.
  • Cost-effective way to avoid the problems of non-metallic roofs.
Watertight Flat Roof
Steel decking supports the insulation and bitumen/felt top surface system.
